Ski mountaineering is becoming an Olympic sport

At contour Skins, we’re excited that ski mountaineering will make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Games. Finally, ski touring is being showcased to a wider audience—a moment that presents the sport the way we love it: dynamic, challenging, and pure mountain adventure. For us, it’s an honor to support this milestone with our equipment.

Which Skimo disciplines will be at the Olympics?

At the Olympic Games, ski mountaineering will feature the Sprint and Mixed Relay disciplines. Both formats are extremely short, intense, and fully optimized for speed. In these races, the skin is usually removed only once (in the Sprint) or once per lap (in the Mixed Relay). That’s why the glue is deliberately not too aggressive: it needs to stick securely, but also peel off extremely quickly and cleanly to save time in the transition zone.

We wish our athletes the best of luck!

Why is our racing skin white?

Simply put: performance. Internal tests have shown that uncolored skins are measurably faster than dyed versions. By avoiding dyes, the natural fiber structure is preserved—ensuring minimal friction and maximum glide efficiency. When every second counts, we rely on what’s fastest.
